Re: New Charge

My mom has named her Fate. She is, give one or two weeks, the same age as Miracle would have been had she lived.

I thought Purina Kitten Chow - original formula - and beef liver is the recommended...

New Charge

The local biologist is newly graduated. She doesn't have much experience in the job. Since she heard I lasted 22 days with a pinkie she thought would be dead in 4-5 she has given me a rehab license....

Re: Brazilian Opossum

It was my fault; She was a fighter. I just got complacent.

Re: Brazilian Opossum

She Passed Away.

I think either the increase in food concentration may have been too fast (I didn't notice any bloating but she stopped eating and wouldn't drink any hydration fluid) or she...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

I DO think she is advancing a bit quicker than nature intended but probably most rehab babies do. Something about nature pushing faster those that need it most.

Her mouth is getting wider but...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

Okay so possies are suppose to be at 66%. I will keep increasing slowly.

Miracle is still around. She is not much bigger (maybe 1/2 centimeter longer?) but her ears have developed further. They are...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

What does the instructions say? Does the can gives 2 parts water to 1 part powder to feed a puppy or does the can give those instructions to feed wildlife?
Are we suppose to feed full strength...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

I thought formula part was calculated in liquid form because not all formula's are universal. I've seen other formulas that are more concentrated (1 tsp for 10 ml of water is to feed puppies from...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

Isn't 1 part formula the mixed formula? or just the powder?
I thought is was volume of mixed formula and not dry since each manufacture has different concentrations
.
Each brand has a particular...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

I mean .75 tsp. The can says 1 scoop (which is 2.5 tsp) to 20cc is full strength for puppies up to 10 days old.
aka
2.5 tsp/20ml = 1 part but you have to ADD 20+20+20 = 60ml of water to equal 3...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

Thanks.

Here is a complete rundown of what I did for future reference.

As I recall, the first 4 died because I made several simple mistakes.

One: they started off being treated like hamsters/rats...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

She is a girl, I could tell when she arrived. I never knew they could be so distinct. Human male babies have nipples, so do dogs.

I've moved her to 2.5:1 and she seems to love it best.

I'll try to...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

Okay. I though you start at 3:1 and gradually go down to 2:1. The gas passed after 8 hours so she is back on her mix. (.4 ccs; 2:1) and she is doing fine.

She peed without any trouble through out...

Tickling up a storm. She wiggles while she sleeps.

ETA:
She is suffering a bout of bloating so I gave some gas drops. Hopefully the bloating will pass. I tried to increase her food from .4 to .5ccs...

Re: Brazilian Opossum

Don't mommas mess in their pouch to stimulate urination/defecation and to clean their pouch? Plus With so many siblings in there, I'm sure they aren't just touched in their genital area. I've only...

Post Re: Brazilian Opossum

Tehehe, People say I have a furry thumb. The only reason I'm not a Vet is I failed O-Chem twice and D-ed Biochem. I did 2.5 years with an Animal Science/Pre-Vet Major.
