Default Our Butters is going blind

Our Butters has advanced cataracts in both eyes. We took him to the vet this morning because he kept running into things and stumble and fall...he doesn't see much anymore.

There's surgery available, but the vet said it'd cost at least $2000.

We'll see how he adjusts. I have read up on some tips on what to do to help blind dogs find their way around better: http://www.blinddogs.com/tips.htm

I'm going to follow some of those tips, but was wondering if any of our members have experience living with a blind dog? If so, I'd love to hear more about it!

Butters is only 8...

Nice drawing huh?

Cute picture. Sorry to hear the little fella is blind. Maybe you could do a fundraiser for him at the animal shelter? It is so sad that he won't be able to see when there is a surgery that can fix it.

Yeah, saving is more like it..since he's our pet for 8 years and not associated with the shelter (even though he was adopted from there), a fundraiser there would feel kinda wrong. He's my responsibility.

By the way, the artist who drew this picture..I'm working on a website for him: http://www.petpeopleart.com/

He's getting better by the drawing!
