Default 3 Coon Babies

I have 3 babies for over a week already. They opened their eyes this weekend:

Well, 2 didn't make it. At first I thought they had feline distemper, because they were in the same room as some kittens that were diagnosed with it, but there were some crucial symptoms missing. They were only half the size of Pumkin, the sole survivor, so I suppose there were 'just' runts.

Here's Pumkin today:

A friend of mine is making these hammocks and donates them to my rescue. They look so cute!

Here are more pictures of lil Pumkin's first day outside:

What a doll! Is that a baby pool she's in? She looks to be just about the same size as ours. How long have you been caring for orphans? Does she have a strong musky smell? Ours is pretty stinky, but I read that they shouldn't be bathed, you should just wash their paws & face after feeding with a damp rag.

Wait, I didn't mean I feed her with damp rags, I meant wash her face & hands with the damp rag... hahahhaha....

LOL!

Yes, it's a little baby pool. I started rehabbing coonies last year, so I'm not very experienced. That's why I joined the Yahoo Group, because there are so many rehabbers with decades of experience, I can't go wrong there! So far I found an answer to every question I ever had about raccoons and then some!

Oh I hear you on the 'pest' attitude. I live amongst cowboys, coon hunting is a favored sport here....
