Default Hi Everyone!!!

I just stumbled on this website this morning while looking up info on the Esbilac issues. This is a wonderful site!!! Here is a little bit about me, I work full time as a vet tech, do wildlife rehab, take in unwanted exotic birds and find homes for them, and seem to attract all kinds of special needs animals, both feathered and furred. I love them!!! I love the fact that this website is devoted to both pets and wildlife. I have already found out some fantastic info from here, because no matter what field you work in or what do rehab, there is still more to learn from others and their experieces. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you and hopefully soak up some more info.

Welcome on board! We are happy to have ya!

I just updated the Esbilac thread with some new information!!

I'm looking forward hearing more about your experience! What kind of exotic birds do you have? I always wanted a Macaw or 2, never happened, because I insist on a rescue, since I don't believe in buying animals.

Thank you for the welcome!! I have never really had much dealings with birds until moving to Florida from Texas in 2000. I thought, after watching people walk along the beach with parrots, that it was a prerequisite that after moving to florida, you had to buy a bird. Hence, Kiwi, my green-cheek conure. After that, they are kinda like potato chips, can't stop with one. Now, most of my birds are special needs and rescues. I do have 3 macaws that I have had from babies. But the other 12 different kinds are rescues. I love them all!! A friend of mine used to be a breeder and has an enormous bird building for our other rescue birds where they are quarantined, vet checked and placed up for adoption. Birds are needy, but loads of fun. Of course, I am just as partial to my dogs, cats and a bunny that was left on the doorstep of the animal hospital where I work.

Wow, another member that moved from Texas to Florida. How interesting!

Where in Texas did you live? I'm in Central, about 80 miles west of Dallas. Used to live outside San Anton for a few years as well.

People walk with their parrots on the beach? Never heard of that one either!
.
Do you have pictures of your birds? Can you post some here? I'd love to see them? Do you have a website?

We lived in Arlington when we moved to texas in 73, then lived in Irving for 8 years before we moved down here. Have a sister that lives in Bedford, and inlaws that live in Kaufman. We always went down to San Antonio every summer to hit the river walk and Sea World and sometimes Fiesta Texas. We also have friends that live in Pleasanton? Did I get that right? I do have pics of the birds, but I'm not sure how to get them on here.

Thank you for the info. This evening I will get all this together and hopefully have some pics of my babies for all to see. Right now, we have a squirrel with urinary issues that we need to take care of this afternoon.

Help please! I did the imageshack thing, and a couple of them are on the image shack page but I'm having trouble getting them on here. The window you said to look for is not working for me, more then likely I'm just messing up.

Welcome birdsNothers!!

I am fairly new to Pets and Wildlife as well but like you I have already found it to be a great source of interesting information. The people are great here and it is a nice place to hang your hat and learn some more about the animals we love.

I look forward to learning more about birds since I am not that up to date on our feathered friends (well, not the domesticated variety anyhow).

Again, welcome and I look forward to chatting with you in the future!

Nathan
