Default Vampire Butterfly

This is the first time I've seen this. It is a Gulf Fritillary butterfly drinking deer blood. Several GFs drank this dead deer blood off and on during the day.

Butterflies will often drink from a puddle sometimes by the thousands at once to get nutrients but I have not ever noticed them on blood. This is the only species I saw do this and there were several other species flying about. Just thought it was interesting

The Vampire Butterfly, affectionately know as "Henry" by Museum staff was escorted out of the exhibit and placed in a sealed room with children and museum patrons that illegally touched museum displays despite the tiny signs stating the museumís "No touch" policy.
