Default Coco Banana

Yes, that's what I ended up calling her. She was thrown over the fence at the
shelter a month ago with a male Pomeranian, who's possibly the father of her
pups.

She doesn't need to give birth at the shelter, so I took her in and ended up
calling her Coco Banana lol:

Cute!

Is there a particular reason they didn't just do a spay/abort? Little guys are so high risk for whelping!

Oh ouch, that sucks. My vet will do e-spays on a tab (he says it's cheaper for him than having to do c-sections on a tab!) :P

So does mine, but that tab is run up. Our shelter gets about 3000 animals a year (humane society that is, not my rescue here) and only 500 or so are adopted out, rest is euthanized. We have no vet to help us out. Every injured animal will be euthanized, because there are enough healthy ones.

So when I take in a dog from the shelter to foster, it's because it's an extreme case. Since I have my own non-profit and rely on donations, which are really not much more than a drop of cold water on a hot rock, I'm turning every cent twice before I spend it. And coming up with 200 Dollars for spaying a stray dog, is just not an option. But I can spare enough food, water, and a snuggly place for her to raise those pups and hopefully find a home for all of them, incl. mom.

That's the situation here.

Coco finally had her puppies yesterday, six of them! They all look like mom and healthy. I did not check for genders yet:

The puppies finally opened their eyes 2 days ago!

Yesterday I received a little kitten that was just opening her eyes, so I figured why not see if Coco won't adopt her. And sure enough:
