Thanks for the welcome, "possums" are one of my favorite animals. So many people want to get rid of them here, but with a little education about them, people want them around.

Welcome on board, Bear! Everybody with a great dane has a special place with me, because I'm a complete great dane nut. Here are my 2, Olliver and Olivia:

I only take in rescue dogs, am waiting on a harlequin, which is what I always wanted, but nothing so far. Right now I have more than plenty of dogs and cats anyways lol.

Do you have pictures you can share with us, Bear?

Yes I have plenty of pics=just gotta figure out how to post them lol.

Awesome all of our animals are rescues also, my fiance trains dogs and has a client that has a one year old harlequin that they are "tired of". He is huge and beautiful, they wife of the client hates the dog and they are thinking seriously about giving him up. We really have a full house and cannot take him but I would love him. Maybe we could get him to Texas, btw I use to live in Texas out side of Houston.

Oh gosh no, I couldn't handle another dog right now. Our city ordinance only allows 3 dogs per household, I already have 4 plus foster dogs.

I also have a wildlife rescue and it took me forever to get my dogs used to wildlife and learn that they can't mess with it. They all have it figured out, except Olliver. He's such a bully, always in your face, always crowding visitors, but just for attention, never aggressively.

But he has such a strong prey drive, he'd kill every critter he could catch, be it a bird, cat, squirrel, skunk...as long as I don't bring it in. If I introduce it to the place, he's ok with it.

I've trained many many dogs in this lifetime, but his prey drive is over my head. I could not handle another male, for sure lol. Sad though that a dog has to live with somebody that hates him .

How wonderful!!!! We have the same mission! And it just so happens that a friend of mine, a professional writer, and I have written a few articles that have been published in a couple of newspapers already.

They are written in a way so wildlife friends at just about every location in the US can copy and paste it and submit it to their local newspapers..best way to reach a greater audience.

If you are interested, feel free and use them:

http://www.rainbowwildlife.com/news/...m-article.html
http://www.rainbowwildlife.com/news/...l-article.html

There are a few more articles in the works. Next one will be about rabies, then birds, raccoons, probably skunks, basic dog care, basic cat care, etc etc.

That is awesome, thank you so much, I will use them.
I have 500+acres signed off to release on, I let many rehabbers release there.
I give wildlife programs and talk to thousands of people both though my job and shows and Im always surprised to hear some people(even in rural areas) have no clue about wildlife and their fear overrides rational thinking. People like you and me will always have our work cut out for us lol

Ha! When I grow up I want 500+ acres too! lol

That is really great what you do, offering your place like that and carrying the message.

I know exactly what you mean when it comes down to misconceptions about wildlife..heck there are enough of them around for pets too!

Maybe I should create a section on my websites just to cover that issue.

What exactly do you do for the Bears and is there a place where I can find more about your wildlife program? I know a few FL. rehabbers that might possibly be interested in joining your efforts.
