Default New Raccoon Enclosure

It took us all Saturday to take dirt out of the enclosure, put wire mesh down, put the dirt back over it and then furnish it for the 3 girls. And it was sooo worth it!

Pumkin, Rocky and Sandy are having a blast.

This is the enclosure now:

And I'm getting Pumkin kissies:

Thank you! I'm even having my morning coffee in there now. It's still somewhat cool in the mornings, so we can just sit and have some quality time. What a way to start the day!

I just love your enclosures!! I wish I had the room for cages that big here. Even at the wildlife center, my opossums are put in smaller hutches and very seldom get to use one of the larger enclosures. We are in the process of redoing our entire yard, as we had a fire last year, which took out a trailer I had for rehab and storage so we now have a large empty spot. I am hoping for a pond and more patio space. However, if I could somehow get the husband to put in a large pen like this I would be in paradise, as would my possums!

Outch, sorry about the fire and the loss of the trailer!

I was hurting for storage too and got me one of those cabin looking sheds on rent to own basis. Was a great deal and I so love it! But it's really only for storage since it has no electricity and it'd get too hot inside for animals, but it has a cute little porch where I can put bird cages. Right now I have a little mockingbird occupying it.

You can see the cabin and the 2 other enclosures in this picture. It had just been delivered.

For opossums and squirrels that are 8 x 8 x 8. This large one is either for raccoons or birds.

What a beautiful set up. Easy fix to the temp issue, a 5000 btu ac unit costs about a 100 bucks and would be more than enough for that shed and fits in the window=just a thought. Thats the cleanest rehab place I think Ive ever seen.

Thanks! It's all pretty new and I'm very proud of it all. Most of the enclosures and cages happened in the past year, thanks to the boy scouts. I'll be forever grateful to those kids! They worked their lil butts off!

Hmmm, I actually do have a spare windows a/c unit, but I don't want to run an extension cord out there. However, I will consider it if I should end up needing the space. I have a spare room inside the house that functions as a nursery, so for now I'm good.

I've been improving the enclosure and built a little platform for the girls to hang up high and since it was 106 F yesterday, I also added the bigger pool, so they can stay cool. See for yourself if they have problems dealing with that heat:
