Default Flea infested orphans

I got 2 kittens in today from animal control...holy moly. I'm used to a lot of sights, but this one dropped even my jaw.

I only started taking pictures after I bathed the kittens twice already, but still the fleas are visibly crawling all over the animals.

I used 10 white towels to clean those kittens and all of them had tons of blood stains on them, unbelievable!

They are also very emaciated, dehydrated and anemic, but their eyes are clear and they are interested in good smelling food. I got some Pedialyte into them and gave them half a Capstar each, so the fleas should be gone pretty soon. They are actually long-haired!

The little Siamese, Star, didn't make it....found her dead in the cage yesterday morning.

But Laila is doing great. She has some ear mites which I'm treating and possibly ringworm on her feet. The flea bites have healed up mostly and she's gaining weight:

Thanks. Little Laila came down with ringworm, so she has to stay a couple of weeks longer for the treatment.

I made a funny little movie with her:

Too cute, I love the video. Sorry Star didn't make it, but you did a great job with Laila. From the first photos, I wouldn't have guessed either made it.

They are so poofy! Sorry to hear about Star. But I am glad to know that Laila is doing okay! I hope you guys manage to get rid of those fleas... I was fighting with them all summer. ><

Oh wow, I forgot to update here!

Well things didn't turn out so good...poor Laila came down with ringworm which caused secondary skin infections...poor thing went through hell and back AGAIN! Lost almost all her fur!

BUT she made a huge turn around after I added antibiotics to the anti-fungal meds (oral and topical). Her skin has cleared up and the fur is starting to grow back.

I also found a home for her once she has recovered, so everything is good now.

Below picturte was taken during the time the movie was made. She showed the first signs in her face:

And then full-blown:

I have to take new pictures to show the improvement!
