Thumbs up Woot we are now posted on Petfinder!!

Today Southwest Oklahoma Animal Rescue (SOAR) has made a great accomplishment I believe. We are now listed on petfinder ID# OK241. Hopefully this will help us network better.

We are still in need of some fundraiser ideas though if anyone can help. This spring we will be bombarded with animals and a lot of wildlife. We are in need of vaccines and microchips. We vaccine all animals we recieve to include wildlife starting this year after their initial health check from our vet. Guys any ideas would help. We are the premier contact for many here in South Oklahoma so I''m sure you can imagine the numbers that we aquire. Thanks in advance for anything.

Ah.. the only idea I really have is a bake sale. Maybe if you did animal-themed treats or something... I'll try to think of some better ideas. ><

I had a yard sale to raise money. Our animal shelter has one every year too. I asked for donated items and left overs from other peoples yard sales and I had a good turn out. This year I was thinking of having an aluminum can collection at my yard sale. I don't know how big a deal yard sales are in your area, Here in Indiana they are real popular.

Wallmart, Giant Eagle and some small stores here in ohio will donate to non profit groups. Wallmart is a pain because you have to start at least 6 months before your event and keep on top of them. But I do a bowling party each year and raise money to buy end of the year gifts for the preschoolers. We have a big party. Head Start won't let you use their name for fundraising so I use our parent group name. It was a little harder but store owners have gotten to know me now. We did a bowling with santa party got a discount on pizza and the bowling. I made a taco dip cookies and bought some candy. I ended up charging 12.00 for each person to bowl and sold raffel tickets for donated items. That 12 included the cost of pizza. We ended up making a nice little profit which got 102 kids chalk, dry erase boards, bubbles, and sunglasses along with a few art projects we did in class.
Maybe you could get someone to dress as santa and get pictures taken with pets.

Congrats to you all. Hope there'll be more awareness & more people & organizations giving donations in kinds & money for your shelter homes. Our shelter homes are having the same problems with funds.
